Punjab Cabinet to be the first delegation to pay obeisance to Chief Minister at Sri Kartarpur Sahib on November 18
Welcoming the decision of Government of India to reopen the corridor before Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channy announced that the entire Punjab Cabinet would pay obeisance at Sri Kartarpur Sahib on November 18 as the first delegation after the reopening of Kartarpur Corridor.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the anniversary of former Punjab Minister and eminent Congress leader Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa here today, the Chief Minister directed the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor before the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Thank you very much. Chief Minister Channy said that he had personally raised the issue of reopening of the corridor with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister. He said that it was a happy occasion for the entire Punjabi community and especially the Sikh community and on November 18 the entire Punjab Cabinet would pay homage at Sri Kartarpur Sahib.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government was on the path of progress and radical changes were being made to provide accountable and transparent administration in the state. He said that every possible effort was being made for the welfare of the people by formulating pro-people and pro-development policies. Chief Minister Channy said that many initiatives have already been taken and more are in progress.
Presenting flowers of devotion to Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa, the Chief Minister said that the life of this great leader was a source of inspiration for millions of people. He said that Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa was a supporter of politics based on ethics, honesty and values. Chief Minister Channi said that Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa was a popular leader of the people who served the party and the state till his last breath.
Recalling his long association with Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa, the Chief Minister said that he had joined the Congress as a founding member when Sardar Randhawa was the President of the Punjab Congress. He said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was carrying forward the great legacy of his father. Chief Minister Channy said that Randhawa inherited from his father high ideals of honesty, hard work, dedication and commitment.
The Chief Minister further said that Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa has rendered unparalleled services for the welfare of the people and overall development of the region. He served the state in various capacities as Cabinet Minister and President of the State Congress. Chief Minister Channi said that Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa was an institution in itself and his contribution in the creation of modern Punjab could never be overlooked.
Thanking the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in his address said that his family was indebted to all the people especially the Chief Minister who had joined him on this occasion. Recalling his glorious legacy, he said that his father had dedicated his entire life in the service of the state and its people. Randhawa also vowed that his family would continue this glorious tradition for the betterment of Punjab and its people.
