Omicron variant of COVID-19: Two cases detected in Karnataka, Centre-states meet to review guidelines

– The Union Health Ministry on Thursday confirmed that the first two cases of Omicron variant in India have been detected in Karnataka

– Meanwhile, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is holding a meeting with states and Union Territories’ officials to review COVID-19 testing and surveillance measures at international airports

– Stricter guidelines came into force from December 1 as the aviation ministry now requires all international travellers to submit 14 days’ travel history, a negative RT-PCR report on the Air Suvidha portal as well as an authenticity declaration for the COVID-19 test report
