Pandher said that an appeal has been made to the farmers, labourers, youth and women of Punjab to join this movement by holding meetings. Preparations have been started to make the movement a success. The farmers of Punjab have a debt of more than one lakh crores. Farmers are committing suicide due to debt. Farmers’ lands are being confiscated. Farmers are being arrested. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is making hollow announcements. Committee heads Satnam Singh Pannu, Jasbir Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gurlal Singh, Ranjit Singh and Inderjit Singh besides other farmer leaders were present.
Trains were also stopped last year
About 650 goods trains and 325 passenger trains were closed for a long time since September 24 last year against agricultural laws. The farmers had stopped all trains running between Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir by protesting at many places on the railway tracks laid in Punjab. Near the Jandiala Guru railway station, which falls between the Beas and Amritsar, the farmers had stalled rail traffic for about 163 days.
