Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Announce Two Day Rail Roko Andolan Against Punjab Government

Enthusiastic over the decision to return the agricultural laws, the problems of the Punjab government may increase. Sarwan Singh Pandher, general secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee in Ferozepur, said that a two-day rail roko movement would be started against the Punjab government from December 13. This movement will be done against waiving the loan of farmer laborers, implementing the demands of first acceptance, providing jobs to the family members of martyr farmers and reneging on election promises. Despite this, if the issues are not resolved, then the agitation will be further increased by holding a meeting. This agitation will continue till the issue is resolve.

Pandher said that an appeal has been made to the farmers, labourers, youth and women of Punjab to join this movement by holding meetings. Preparations have been started to make the movement a success. The farmers of Punjab have a debt of more than one lakh crores. Farmers are committing suicide due to debt. Farmers’ lands are being confiscated. Farmers are being arrested. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is making hollow announcements. Committee heads Satnam Singh Pannu, Jasbir Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gurlal Singh, Ranjit Singh and Inderjit Singh besides other farmer leaders were present.

Trains were also stopped last year

About 650 goods trains and 325 passenger trains were closed for a long time since September 24 last year against agricultural laws. The farmers had stopped all trains running between Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir by protesting at many places on the railway tracks laid in Punjab. Near the Jandiala Guru railway station, which falls between the Beas and Amritsar, the farmers had stalled rail traffic for about 163 days.
